Direct Marketing Policy

Language and Diaspora Transmission (LDT)

Language and Diaspora Transmission (LDT) is committed to maintaining respectful, relevant, and transparent communication with our authors, reviewers, readers, and the broader academic community. This Direct Marketing Policy outlines how the journal manages email communications and promotional activities to ensure they align with our scholarly mission and respect the privacy of our stakeholders.

Scope of Direct Marketing

Direct marketing communications from LDT are strictly limited to content that is highly relevant to our academic scope. These communications typically include:

  • Calls for Papers (CFP) for upcoming regular issues or special issues.
  • Newsletters highlighting newly published articles, editorial updates, and journal metrics.
  • Invitations to join the editorial board or peer-reviewer database.
  • Announcements regarding academic conferences, workshops, or partnerships relevant to linguistics, diaspora studies, and social sciences.

Email Privacy and Data Protection

LDT strictly adheres to international data protection principles regarding the collection and use of email addresses. We guarantee that:

  • Email addresses collected through the OJS platform are used exclusively for journal-related editorial and administrative purposes.
  • The journal will never sell, rent, lease, or share its mailing lists or subscriber databases with third-party commercial entities, advertisers, or unrelated organizations.
  • All subscriber and author data is stored securely within the OJS system and is accessible only to authorized editorial and publishing staff.

Editorial vs. Marketing Emails

It is important to distinguish between editorial emails and marketing emails. Editorial emails (such as manuscript submission receipts, peer-review requests, and decision notifications) are essential to the publishing process and cannot be opted out of while a manuscript is under consideration. Marketing emails (such as newsletters and general calls for papers) are optional and subject to the opt-out mechanisms described below.

Opt-Out and Unsubscribe Mechanism

We respect the inbox of our academic community. Therefore, LDT provides clear and accessible ways to manage communication preferences:

  • Every marketing or newsletter email sent by LDT includes a clear, one-click "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the message.
  • Users can also manage their notification preferences directly through their OJS user profile by unchecking the boxes for "Notify us of new issues" or similar marketing options.
  • Unsubscribe requests are processed immediately, and the individual will no longer receive promotional communications from the journal.
